Step-by-Step Opening Order
- Remove, clean, and store your winter cover
- Reconnect all equipment and inspect for damage
- Fill pool to proper water level (mid-skimmer)
- Start pump and circulate water for 24 hours
- Test water chemistry
- Adjust pH and alkalinity first, then add stabilizer
- Shock the pool and run pump overnight
- Add algaecide as a preventive measure
- Test again after 24 hours and fine-tune
Pro Tip: Always add chemicals one at a time with the pump running, and wait at least 15–30 minutes between additions. Never mix chemicals together before adding them to the pool.
